How to use Live Budget

The live budget in Liru is not a spreadsheet you maintain manually -- it assembles itself as you work. Every time you add a product to a room, whether through the Chrome extension, a manual entry, or a presentation approval, the budget updates automatically with the correct price, quantity, and category. To view your budget, click Cost Estimate in the left sidebar of your project. The budget dashboard shows a complete financial picture organized in multiple layers: a top-level project total, a per-room breakdown showing how spend is distributed across spaces, and a per-category breakdown (furniture, lighting, textiles, decor, and so on). Each product line shows three cost columns -- estimated amount, actual amount, and paid amount -- so you can track the financial lifecycle from initial quote to final payment. When you source products using the Chrome extension, the price and currency are captured automatically from the product page. If products come from stores in different currencies, Liru handles conversion with automatic exchange rates, and you can set your project's base currency in the project settings. The budget always displays totals in your chosen currency while preserving the original source currency on each line item. The real power comes from client interaction. When your client approves a product in a concept presentation, the budget reflects that decision instantly -- approved items are marked, alternatives are deprioritized, and the running total adjusts in real time. You never have to reconcile a spreadsheet after a client meeting. If a product is rejected and a different option is chosen, the budget recalculates on the spot. You can share a read-only budget summary with your client through the portal, giving them visibility into costs without exposing your internal markup or vendor details. The summary shows clean totals per room and per category, keeping the financial conversation transparent and professional.
